I had been looking for a Blu-Ray player for a while and it had to be Samsung to go with my TV i was not looking for a home cinema system. Then i found this for not much more than the Blu-Ray players I had been looking at so I ordered it what a fantastic bit of kit for an amazing price. It does everything I wanted superb sound, great Blu-Ray player and the smart TV function too I can’t fault it. Don’t know about the 3D function as I will probably never use that as 3D TV does not interest me. Overall - brilliant.

I looked at about eight 2.1 systems of various brands including sound bars by sharp and Samsung and the htd5000 seemed to be the best all-rounder for under £200. The speakers are small and look great in typical Samsung gloss black. The aux gives the TV great sound very easily and the DVD player does the job perfectly. I'm yet to try the online functionality, but I couldn't see a better 2.1 system on the market for this price. Delivery very timely in perfect condition. Very happy.

Review

We bought this system after wanting a 5.1 sound system for our living room, predominantly to use it with a PS3 (PlayStation 3). At £180 you get a great looking system with 2 tall speakers, a small centre, 2 small rears and a subwoofer. The system came with ample amount of wiring and was easy enough to assemble with all the wires colour coordinated. I bought an optical cable for sound quality and you would need an hdmi cable if you were to use the DVD player.
Sound is fantastic with action movies, PS3 games are made much more playable and listening to music is a simply tremendous, definitely worth the money!!

Review 

Not sure about the negative review, sounds great with adjustable bass levels and differant sound presets, saying that an equiliser would have been nice. linked to sony bravia 40" via 1080p on hdmi and optical cable from tv.

I was initially disapointed with the picture quality as very grainy, i worked out the was over processing of the picture and turning the sharpness setting down on the blu-ray fixed that.

There is a built in fm radio, and two optical in ports on the back.

Picture quality on dvds is fantastic and upscales very well at 1080.

Media streaming is very good and a free copy of nero home media is supplied to help with transcoding on the fly of you home media.

The web services avalable are youtube, picassa, and acuweather. Picassa is especially impressive as it seems very fast with well aranged menus.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a surround settup then look elsewhere as this is really a replacement for your tv speakers with attitude. There is also no upgrade option to 5.1 sound so you are getting 2.1 sound

If you however want a great bluray player and want to see just how pathetic you tv speakers really are, and trust me there will be a gulf of quality ; then this is for you.

Review
Bought this to replace a more expensive Samsung 2.1 BD system.

Having just spent a decent whack on an LG 55" TV I didn't want to break what remained of the bank to get 5.1 to go with it.

The sound is excellent and very easy to adjust to match your mood ...or your neighbors absense :)

LG Simplink makes controlling the unit easy so that the TV controls the volume when you are listening to sky channel over the toslink fibre connection. I haven't tried a 3D BD yet but picture quality from 1080p BD is top notch.

On real down sides are a lack of HDMI inputs and seemingly no audio channel return over HDMI but at this price somethings got to give.
